You have encountered The Unknown Errors, a two-piece indie rock band, comprised of artists Michael Hilton from Baltimore, MD and Michael Sheppard from Asheville, NC, this duo has developed an authentic sound with their lo-fi, home-recording project.
Formed in the early 2022, The Unknown Errors began as experimental instrumentation and composition for Michael Hilton during the pandemic lockdown. Soon after, Michael Sheppard joined in and elevated this project to a band, adding lyrics and vocals and giving the songs a voice. The two have previously played together for over 15 years in several different bands in the Baltimore music scene, most notably The Scott Farkus Affair. This musical familiarity made for a natural match with The Unknown Errors making it easy to tap into their creative connection to collaborate while physically in different cities.
Their music is a blend of acoustic guitar-driven indie rock and stripped-down, lo-fi songs wrapped up in a DIY aesthetic. Their songs are marked by introspective lyrics and haunting melodies, with an intimacy that draws the listener in. The music primarily focuses on acoustic guitar sounds while adding ukulele, bass, cello, mandolin, piano, organs, and drum programming.
Their debut album, Minor Movements, consists of songs of experience, personal, and intimate emotions of being stuck in place, trying to move, trying to survive, and trying to make sense of the world around and within them.
The Unknown Errors are very excited to continue sharing their existing and new music with new and old listeners and fans alike.
